Tänak signs his first victory in Sardinia

Ott Tänak (Ford) took its first victory in WRC (at the end of his 73rd start) by winning the Rally from Sardinia with a dozen seconds ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota).

The Estonian, now 3rd in the Championship, lost part of his lead on the first pass of the final stage after making a slight error, but the driver M-Sport managed his gap with the Finn to become the second Estonian after Markko Märtin to win a round of the World Rally Championship.

Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) completes the podium ahead of Espakke Lappi (Toyota) and Sébastien Ogier (Ford) who took advantage of the steering problems of Juho Hänninen (Toyota) to climb into the top five in the last special of the Sardinia Rally with 13 seconds ahead of the Finn.

Mads Ostberg (Ford) reached the finish line in 7th place, but the private driver broke his right-rear suspension in the Power Stage and still has to complete a 50km section to validate his result.

Andreas Mikkelsen saves Citroën's weekend by taking 8th place.

Jan Kopecky (Skoda Fabia R5) wins WRC 2 while Yazeed Al Rajhi (Ford) wins the WRC Trophy several minutes ahead of the DS 3 WRC of Jean-Michel Raoux.
