Teemu Suninen debuts in WRC at Rally Poland

Teemu Suninen will be entered for the first time in the premier category of WRC next week at the 74th Rally from Poland where he will be entered in a Ford Fiesta WRC prepared by M-Sport who supports him in WRC 2.

The Finn, co-driven by Mikko Markkula, completed a two-day test session on the M-Sport private track, taking advantage of varied conditions (dry and wet).

“I'm going to take another step in my career next week and it's a big step! assures Teemu Suninen. The challenge compared to WRC 2 is multiplied and I can't wait to get started. The Polish Rally has always been successful for me and it's a good thing to start in this category here. »

“Good preparation is important, underlines Teemu Suninen. I don't expect my WRC debut to be easy, but the test session was useful. I didn't have the opportunity to test in Poland, but the shakedown will give me a first experience on these fast stages. The objective is to ride cleanly to the finish while gaining as much experience as possible before competing in my national event. »

Teemu Suninen will indeed be back in the Ford Fiesta WRC at the Rally Finland held from July 28 to 30.

“I'm delighted to see Teemu behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta WRC, recognizes Malcolm Wilson, director of M-Sport. He is an exceptional young talent with an incredible future and it is fantastic to see him achieve this important milestone with M-Sport. Teemu is hungry to learn and I am confident that his level of commitment and determination will position him well for the near future and beyond. I have been following its development for many years now. »

Teemu Suninen occupies second place in WRC 2, 46 points behind Championship leader Pontus Tidemand, ahead of Éric Camilli by 2 points.
