Thierry Neuville untouchable, Sébastien Ogier gets back on Elfyn Evans

@HMSGOfficial

Thierry Neuville take a stroll on the roads in Catalonia! The pilot Hyundai seems untouchable since yesterday afternoon. Already leader at the start this morning and after today's first loop, the Belgian continues to increase his lead over Elfyn Evans and Sébastien Ogier, who complete the podium. On the evening of this second day of Rally of Catalonia, the gap between the leader and the Welshman is +16″4, and +38″7 compared to the Frenchman.

SS10 saw the Belgian driver win by a mere second over Sébastien Ogier, before the two men became impossible to separate during the following special. Elfyn Evans, third each time, was unable to rejoin the battle. In difficulty this morning, to the point of seeing Dani Sordo come back to 2 hundredths, Sébastien Ogier made up for it this afternoon by winning SS12. We had to wait until the penultimate special of this day to see another driver than Thierry Neuville set the best time. "Better late than never !" underlined the seven-time world champion. “It was a difficult first half of the rally for us. We worked a lot on the car and now I'm starting to feel better. I have never changed so many things on a car during a rally, but at least we finally found a better rhythm.”

Finally, the last special (2,15 kilometers long, the shortest of this edition), was won by Thierry Neuville. “It's been a good day so far. I was careful on the ropes but overall it was a nice day. » The other French pilot, Adrien fourmaux, suffered a slight accident on SS11, damaging his car at the front. He finished dead last, 8 minutes behind, which was frustrating for him and his co-driver who had managed to finish second this morning in SS8.

In the standings after these two days of the Rally, the leading trio is made up of Thierry Neuville, Elfyn Evans and Sébastien Ogier. Dani Sordo consolidates his 4th position ahead of Kalle Rovanperä who completes the Top 5.
