Thierry Neuville maintains his lead in Poland

Leader this morning with 1″3 ahead of Ott Tänak (ford), Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) managed to conclude the first loop of the day while maintaining the advantage over the winner of the Rally of Italy. However, the Belgian driver had seen the Estonian take control of the Polish Rally at the end of SS12, a special stage which had largely changed the general classification.

It is in fact at this moment that Sébastien Ogier (Ford), fourth, lost a lot of time by damaging his left rear wheel in contact in the first kilometer. The world champion also showed up at the finish of the special with a missing front bumper, before changing his wheel and continuing towards SS13.

“We were unlucky. We had a slow puncture in the first SS (n°11), then another after 1 km in the next one. Then, 1 km before the end, when the tire was off the rim, I went out and hit something and lost even more time. » underlined Ogier.

Leading the race and thanks to his best time in SS14, Neuville is still leading the Rally Poland with a 1″ lead over Tänak, a gap equivalent to that at the start of the day. Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) remains in the running for victory, with a delay of 9″5.

Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) consolidates his fourth place by more than 42″ and precedes Dani Sordo (Hyundai), fifth at 1'30”. Sébastien Ogier (Ford) is sixth at 1'37″2. Teemu Suninen (Ford) maintains seventh place ahead of Stéphane Lefebvre (Citroën), Mads Ostberg (Ford) and Juho Hänninen (Toyota), who reported possible engine problems on his Yaris.

En WRC-2, Ole Christian Veiby (Skoda Fabia R5) is 13″6 ahead of Pontus Tidemand (Skoda Fabia R5), while Quentin Gilbert (Skoda Fabia R5) is more than 3′ in third position in the category.

Note that the morning program was largely disrupted after a delay from SS11, due to insufficient security for the public gathered at the edge of the track. SS15 was initially scheduled for 14:08 p.m.
