To see Sami Pajari behind the wheel of the Toyota Yaris Rally1 we will have to wait a little longer. The Japanese manufacturer, which had confirmed at the beginning of June his foal for the Latvia Rally (July 18-21), finally decided to review its plans.

In fact, the Japanese brand has postponed the debut date of the young 22-year-old Finn until later in the season. These will therefore no longer take place in Latvia but at home in Rally from Finland (1er-August 4). A decision " taken in consultation with the pilot, while taking into account the best possible conditions for its debut."

Ogier to compensate for the absence of Pajari

This change of program forced Toyota to review its plans for the Latvia Rally. Thus, faced with the absence of Sami Pajari, the reigning world champion manufacturer called on Sébastien Ogier. Better yet, he will be able to count on his entire armada because Kalle Rovanperä, whose participation was already recorded, will also join the Japanese ranks, in addition to the usual Elfyn Evans and Takamoto Katsuta.

“It was not originally planned for me to be in Latvia, but the opportunity presented itself after analyzing with the team the situation in the Manufacturers' and Drivers' Championships, smiles Sébastien Ogier. The team wanted me to participate in other events and I happily agreed. I want to return the favor to the team and thank them for giving me the opportunity to continue riding with them as I have for the last three years. »
