Toyota confirms its interest in the WRC

Toyota told AUTOhebdo that it was closely interested in a possible return to the World Rally Championship.

Present in Bahrain last weekend for the final of the WEC 2013, Rob Leupen, COO of TMG (Toyota Motorsport GmbH), has confirmed that Toyota is considering a return, in the medium term, to the World Rally Championship. “ We think about it, confided the Dutchman in issue 1938 of AUTOhebdo, available here in digital version as well as in all kiosks. But if it happens, it would be, at best, in 2016.” The world's leading manufacturer plans to shortly carry out tests with a WRC equipped with the 1,6 liter turbo Global Engine that the Japanese firm unveiled at the end of August.
