A hefty bill for M-Sport

Leader after the first super-special of Rally from Italy to Sardinia, Mikko Hirvonen had to retire from the link between SS 3 and 4 following a fire in his Ford Fiesta RS which literally went up in smoke. Unfortunate consequence for the former Citroën driver, but also for the structure of Malcolm Wilson M-Sport who quantified the damage and the bill looks steep. “We estimate at 400 pounds (or almost €500) the damage. And we don't insure cars, explains the Englishman to the website WRC. Even in a big release, many components remain usable, but in this scenario, there is absolutely nothing reusable. Everything is destroyed and it’s a big loss. Mikko thinks it came from the right rear wheel and something must have pierced the tank. »

An important bill for the English structure which will be back with the Fiesta RS of Hirvonen and Elfyn Evans from the Polish Rally, from June 26 to 29.
