Violent exit from the road for Ott Tänak

Ott Tänak will not play for victory Rally Monte Carlo for its first official release in the Hyundai i20 coupe WRC. The reigning world champion violently went off the road this Friday morning in SS4 (St Clément – ​​Freissinières), in a high-speed section at kilometer 9,2.

 

 

Fortunately for the Estonian duo, more fear than harm, the two teammates having got out of their largely damaged i20 alone. As a precaution, Tänak and Järveoja were taken to hospital for check-ups, as confirmed by Hyundai Motorsport.

The Automobile Club of Monaco then indicated that the crew's medical assessment was “reassuring” but that Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja will remain under observation until tomorrow morning as a precautionary measure. The abandonment of Tänak – Järveoja was also made official.

The Korean brand now counts on Thierry Neuville and Sébastien Loeb for the rest of this inaugural event of the 2020 WRC.
