WRC / Argentina: Ford divided between disappointment and hope

Petter Solberg held the lead ahead of the two Citroën drivers before retiring following a broken steering link on his Fiesta RS WRC. The Norwegian will be able to leave in Rally 2 tomorrow but his hopes of victory are now in vain. « This is another great opportunity lost and we cannot hide our disappointment”, Ford WRT director Malcolm Wilson admitted to wrc.com. “But we think we can repair the car for tomorrow and we will fight like in Portugal and play for points for Petter. »

The good surprise comes from Dani Sordo who is currently in third place, 13 seconds behind the race lead. The Spaniard is now the main strike force of the Ford team. “If you look at his times, he certainly managed to get his bearings”, added the Briton. “He drives very well and learns very quickly. He took his foot off when things were complicated but he showed his burst of speed when he was confident. He is only 13 seconds behind Sébastien so who knows what could happen. There is still a lot to experience on this rally. »
