Hyundai is preparing for a new discovery with the Rally Argentina. The priority will remain to gain experience even if the Korean manufacturer.

WRC – Hyundai discovering the Rally Argentina

Hyundai will compete this week in its fifth event with the i20 WRC au Rally of Argentina, an event known to be difficult for both the crews and the equipment. The profile of the event which will offer varied routes will nevertheless be interesting for the Asian brand which is always seeking to acquire data in order to arrive with better pretensions next season. With testing banned outside Europe, the i20 WRCs drove in northern Portugal to be ready for the Argentinian stages.

The new WRC team will be able to count on the presence of Dani Sordo who will play alongside Thierry Neuville. Competitive since the start of the season, the Spaniard will also be of great help since he has extensive experience of Rally Argentina with seven participations, including a second place obtained in 2009 with Citroën. “The Rally Argentina is a new event where I feel a bit at home. I really like this race and have had some good results there. There is a fantastic atmosphere there. I'm really happy to be offered this new opportunity after our performance in Portugal. My intention is to do as much as possible to help the team develop the Hyundai i20 WRC, as we did in Portugal. »

Although his Belgian teammate has only participated in the event twice, he already knows what to expect this week. “Rally Argentina is very tough on the cars and on the drivers. It involves delicate ford crossings and the difficulty also comes from the stones hidden in the ground which can cause damage. This rally also stands out for its spectators who create a fantastic atmosphere. We tested in Portugal last March and I think we are all well prepared. »
