The rule WRC 2027, initially approved by the FIA World Motor Sport Council in December 2024, has undergone six months of fine-tuning and final adjustments. This Tuesday, June 10, in Macau, during new discussions on the subject, The Council notably validated the flexibility criteria for future bodywork. This would allow for different cars.
A major point desired by the WRC Commission and considered by the FIA as “one of the final pieces of the captivating puzzle that is falling into place to mark the beginning of a whole new era in 2027”, in order to attract new builders.
Regulations valid until 2037 in WRC
In a press release, the body explains how these adjustments will work, while publishing a 3D rendering of a 2027 chassis: “The rules define an area in which all body panels must be located. But within this volume, builders and manufacturers have the freedom to design and integrate almost any design."

"This key feature of the regulation means that, without impacting performance, cars ranging from hatchbacks to city cars, crossovers or completely bespoke designs", will therefore be able to see the light of day in the WRC according to the FIA.
Finally, all these cars will be able to be entered throughout the ten-year regulatory cycle, i.e. until 2037.
