FIA reduces penalties for hybrid issues

The FIA ​​has decided to review its copy following the introduction of the hybrid in the World Rally Championship WRC. In his report on the decisions taken at the World Sports Council, The FIA ​​has amended the championship regulations regarding breakdowns and problems linked to the hybrid unit.

When for his rally from Sweden, Ott Tanak and Elfyn Evans each saw their hopes dashed as the safety LED on their Rally1 went from green to red, indicating a fault in their hybrid system. Previously, a 10-minute penalty punished a driver who returned to the road when he abandoned following a problem linked to the hybrid. From now on, the penalty is reduced to just two minutes.

Finally, in consultation with the manufacturers and the teams, the FIA ​​granted a new day of testing so that Hyundai, Toyota et M-Sport Ford are refining their understanding of their new versions.
