WRC – The German Rally will pass through Cologne

“We had the idea several times of bringing the ADAC Rally Deutschland to a big city. And I am proud to announce that the dream will come true this year. » Hermann Tomczyk, president of ADAC MotorsSport, does not hide his satisfaction. For the first time, Rally Germany will host the start of the event, counting for the ninth round of the World Rally Championship (WRC). “Behind this idea, our objective is to reach a wider audience and share the passion for rallying with all fans”, specifies the promoter of the event.

Thus, if the vast majority of the rally will be concentrated around Trier, near the Luxembourg border, the opening of the event will take place in Cologne, the fourth city in the country. From 14:30 p.m., on Roncalliplatz, near the cathedral, spectators will be able to admire the World Rally Cars and all the drivers before the first special stage of the rally begins.

The crews will leave with one minute intervals after regrouping at Harry Blum Square in Cologne. Then they will travel to the southwest of Cologne for the first special stage of the rally, Blankenheim, 23,60 km long. They will then head to the Trier region for a new special, Squertal, 19,58km long and which will start at 19:58 p.m. Fourteen additional special stages will complete this Rally until Sunday August 25.
