WRC – Radios will be very limited in 2015

After the limited radio conversations in F1, it's the turn of WRC to tighten the screw on exchanges between crews and teams. The FIA World Council meeting in Doha (Qatar) confirmed that “the transmission of data or information concerning any racing car was prohibited on special stages, in order to promote better competition”.

Concretely, drivers will no longer be able to know the intermediate times of their competitors, which will force them to manage their driving more blindly depending on their position. This ban will come into force next year but will obviously not concern elements relating to security.

The World Council also indicated that teams entering only one car in WRC2 and WRC3 would be at a less disadvantage since Teams' Championship points will only be scored by the team's best car.

On the other hand, a car which has not started from the starting line after 20 seconds will be considered to have retired. The crews will still be able to restart in Rally 2 the following stage.

Finally, non-priority drivers will be able to use asphalt tires previously approved for an additional season.
