WRC – Ogier and Latvala dream of a new duel in Catalonia

The Drivers and Manufacturers titles being played for Sébastien Ogier and Volkswagen, the three-time world champion and his teammate Jari-Matti Latvala will be able to fight without any other pressure than that of victory in the Rally of Catalonia contested from October 22 to 25.

After going through Rally 2 at the Tour de Corse, thus leaving his Finnish teammate in first place, Sébastien Ogier intends to return to the front on the Spanish event where half of the route will be new. “I always think about the victories won over the last two years when the Rally de Catalunya is mentioned”, recognized the Volkswagen driver. “But it will be far from easy because we are starting from scratch with this new course. We had a great duel in 2014 with Jari-Matti Latvala and I expect that to be the case again this year. »

Jari-Matti Latvala is also hoping to get his revenge in Catalonia after losing to the Frenchman last year. “I pushed hard until the end and won the Power Stage. But unfortunately I missed the victory by only eleven seconds behind”, remembers the Finn. “I didn't set out being 100% in dirt mode at the start. I had prepared myself more for the asphalt part and thus won most of the scratches during the last stage. I learned my lesson and now know how to adjust the Polo. »
