Sébastien Ogier maintains a lead of almost a minute at Rally of Spain at the end of the second stage contested on asphalt unlike the first day. The fight focused on the places of honor, with a great attack from Jari-Matti Latvala who regained second place after having a puncture in the first pass.
The new top three is made up entirely of Volkswagen drivers, Andreas Mikkelsen retaining third place after taking the advantage over Dani sordo (Hyundai). Despite good resistance, the Spaniard gave in to the attacks of the Polo R WRC and finds himself in fourth place, just over four seconds behind the Norwegian.
Chris Meeke (Citroën) took fifth place in the Salou super special which closed the second stage by 1”5 ahead of his teammate Mads ostberg. The Northern Irishman had difficulty with the settings of his DS 3 WRC. The priority of the Citroën drivers will be to resist the Hyundais ofHayden Paddon and Thierry Neuville who are tied less than 13 seconds behind the Norwegian.
Martin Prokop (Ford) occupies ninth place ahead of Pontus Tidemand (Skoda Fabia R5), still solid leader of WRC2 with half a minute ahead of his teammate Jan Kopecky, while Éric Camilli (Fiesta R5) still completes the provisional podium. Quentin Gilbert remains at the head of the JWRC.
The final stage of the Rally of Spain will begin this Sunday, October 25 from 7:17 a.m. (note the change to winter time).
