Sébastien Ogier took the lead Rally from Australia with a tiny lead of 3 tenths over Kris Meeke (Citroën), while his teammates Jari-Matti Latvala and Andreas Mikkelsen are only a few seconds behind. If the Frenchman is still far from victory, he can rejoice in his position sincehe will benefit from the sweep of his opponents on the last day.
The Volkswagen driver admits that the presence of Stéphane Lefebvre (Citroën) in Rally2 was beneficial to him, the rookie being back after breaking a suspension arm in the first stage in a collision with a stone, was valuable to him. “I didn’t think I would be in the lead at the end of the two stages in these difficult conditions”, declared Sébastien Ogier. « Stéphane Lefebvre helped me by opening the road in front of me, especially in the second passage where I was able to follow its trajectories. The tire selection in the morning, with a mix of hard and soft tires, was also very useful. »
Sébastien Ogier now sees the 3rd world title getting closer, the Frenchman simply having to finish ahead of his teammate Jari-Matti Latvala who currently occupies 3rd place 2"6 behind the first Polo R WRC.
