WRC – Sébastien Ogier sovereign in Sweden

The final day of Rally from Sweden 2016 came down to a single pass through the Power Stage at Värmullsåsen after the cancellation of SS 20 at Lesjöfors. And over the 15,87 km to be covered this Sunday, Sébastien Ogier concluded the Scandinavian event in the best possible way.

Leader of the general classification with more than 17 seconds ahead of Hayden Paddon, the Frenchman had a certain margin before this last ES. But the three-time world champion won the three bonus points of this Power Stage, giving him a second perfect score after the Monte-Carlo Rally and his third success in Sweden. The former Citroën resident widens the gap in the championship with now 56 points on the clock.

Volkswagen driver ahead at the finish New Zealander Hayden Paddon 29″8. The pilot Hyundai finished the stage with an i20 emitting smoke, the radiator damaged after contact with a roadside stake in the final meters of the SS. John Kennard, Paddon's co-driver, indicated that the duo should be able to return to the service park.

Mads Ostberg (Ford Fiesta RS) completes the podium at more than 55 seconds. The Norwegian is ahead of his compatriot Andreas Mikkelsen (Volkswagen Polo), second in the Power Stage, and Ott Tänak (Ford Fiesta), fifth.

Dani Sordo (Hyundai i20) finished sixth and ahead of Henning Solberg (Ford Fiesta) and Craig Breen (DS3 WRC). Elfyn Evans (Ford Fiesta R5) pockets the WRC-2 by rising to ninth place overall and ahead of the Skoda Fabia R5 of Pontus Tidemand and Esapekka Lappi, who finished 3rd with 2″1 ahead of Anders Grondal.
