WRC – TMG withdraws from Toyota project

While Toyota only has one year left to develop his WRC for an arrival in 2017, the project takes a new start following the withdrawal of Toyota Motorsport GmbH of which AUTOhebdo has had confirmation.

The team manager Tommi Mäkinen takes over the entire development which will be produced in Jyväskylä (Finland) after receiving the approval of the president of the Japanese brand Akio Toyoda, an unconditional fan of the quadruple world champion.

The multiple tests carried out so far with the Yaris WRC therefore become useless since a new engine will have to be found to power the WRC. The Finnish team will have until the end of 2016 to produce its car before homologating it in January 2017.
