Yannick Roche – Rally Co-driver: “Singing La Marseillaise on a podium is something that leaves a mark.”

The WRC2 driver has no shortage of anecdotes to give us an inside look at rallying. We met with the co-driver from the Hautes-Alpes region who has eight Monte Carlo Rallies under his belt, six of them in the co-driver's seat.

Yannick, a few introductory remarks to start with?

I'm 39 years old, and although I live in La Ciotat, I'm still a Hautes-Alpes native at heart. I'm a member of the ASA des Alpes motorsport club. My family wasn't involved in motorsport, but on January 18, 1999, the Monte Carlo Rally passed right by my house… it was a good excuse to skip school. And by a stroke of luck, I saw "Bug" (Philippe Bugalski, editor's note). I asked him for an autograph without knowing his achievements; I found out later. I was just a kid in awe!

And you live with a French champion!

Yes! (Julie Amblard, co-driver for Sarah Rumeau. Ed.). We were lucky enough to be teammates last year (in Stéphane Sa's team).
