Chicherit-Winocq forced to abandon
Guerlain Chicherit's reunion with the Dakar was more than eventful, between an accident when landing on a dune, various mechanical problems, but also good performances on certain stages (8th of the fifth stage). The entrepreneur, associated with Alexandre Winocq, ends his 2022 Dakar one day earlier than planned due to an out-of-service fire extinguisher:
His GCK Motorsport team, which discovered the event, does not have an emergency fire extinguisher. The FIA regulations for the World Championship rally-raids (W2RC) stipulates that a fire extinguisher is one of the safety elements that must be present in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The Thunder was not authorized to start the 12th and final stage from Bisha (Saudi Arabia) this Friday, January 14.
