Sébastien's teammate Loeb, who had played water carrier by giving him one of his spare wheels during the second stage, was injured during a collision with camel grass at the end of stage 3.

“A very bad day today. Yesterday (Tuesday), with 6 km to go we hit the camel grass at high speed, very hard. The car is very solid and nothing has happened to it. Because of yesterday's shock, my back gave out. 12 km after the start of today's special stage, I started to feel a strong pain in my waist. Yesterday's impact caused inflammation of the injury I have in my lower back. After the good stages we did with Alex, I thought it would be a good Dakar. So much for that. It’s life and it’s sport. »

Orlando Terranova finished the 2022 Dakar in 4th place, with a special victory. The continuation of his Dakar 2023 remains uncertain. A scan was carried out in the bivouac's mobile clinic and the Argentinian, after consultation with his physiotherapist regarding the continuation of the rally-raid, chose to stop for good.
