The Normandy MD team Rally Sport loses its spearhead on the Dakar 2025. This Tuesday, January 14, Christian Lavieille and Valentin Sarreaud decided not to take the start of the 9th stage.
The three-time winner in the T2 category led the two-wheel drive class until suffering serious engine problems on the 8th special stage. "It is with great disappointment that we must announce our withdrawal at the dawn of this stage 9, he wrote on his networks this morning. A new engine problem forces us to stop there this time, despite all the efforts and hard work of the MD Rallye Sport team. We were leading our T1.2 category before our problems yesterday, and we leave this edition with the regret of not being able to finish this rally and defend our chances of victory.
This is Christian Lavieille's first retirement from a Dakar since 2018.
