Like Nasser Al-Attiyah and Mathieu Baumel (Toyota), subject to a suspensive exclusion for non-connection of the turbo data collector during the second stage of the Dakar 2022, Cristina Gutiérrez and François Cazalet (Overdrive) suffered a similar fate from the marshals before the seventh stage.
The 2021 Modified SSV Cross-Country Rally World Cup (T3) winning crew committed the offense of having a bluetooth connection enabled on their Stilo helmets during stage four. This can notably allow wireless connection with a telephone, and therefore possibly access to GPS coordinates during the stage.
“The team manager (Jean-Marc Fortin) said it requested a modified version of the Stilo DG10 digital intercom without a built-in Bluetooth module. Stilo asked the competitor not to open the intercom to avoid damaging the waterproofing. Stilo acknowledged his mistake in another letter signed on January 8, 2022.”
Gutiérrez-Cazalet continue their Dakar in third place in the T3 ranking, 2h20′ behind the leaders Lopez-Latrach (Can-Am).
