Erik van Loon (Toyota) ne pensait pas débuter le Dakar 2023 de cette manière. Le pilote néerlandais de 54 ans, animateur régulier de la classe T1 (il avait fini le Dakar Rally 2015 at the foot of the podium) returned after a year of absence due to Covid-19 with the ambition of achieving a top 15 in the company of his French navigator Sébastien Delaunay.

But the duo especially stood out during the prologue by putting their Toyota Hilux T1+ on the roof at the bend!

Assisted by photographers present on site, the crew was able to put the Japanese 4x4 back on its wheels before continuing on their way. In the general classification, he is 6'47'' behind the leaders in the Auto category, Mattias Ekström-Emil Bergkvist (Audi).
