World RX: Victory for Grönholm

A few days after the WRC's visit to the Lousada circuit, it was the turn of the World Rallycross Championship players to meet on the Portuguese track.

Leader on the evening of the first day, Niclas Grönholm displayed a very strong pace at the end of qualifying to win the intermediate classification.

Qualifying on pole position for the final after winning the first part of the elimination stages, the Finn remained solid throughout the six laps to climb to the top step of the podium. Grönholm claimed his third victory in Portugal after two wins at the Montalegre circuit.

In a final, eventful corner, Ole-Christian Veiby took third place behind Timmy Hansen.
