After two withdrawals from the Belgian and Swedish Grands Prix, the car's first entry in the F1 World Championship was at the Dutch Grand Prix. An event where the car was supposed to qualify automatically, but a Ford-Cosworth engine failure during practice without a spare part prevented it from taking part in the rest of the weekend.
The Maki F101C would be seen on four more occasions during the 1975 season, but neither Hiroshi Fushida at Silverstone nor Tony Trimmer in Germany, Austria and Italy were able to qualify it for the race.
