24 Hours of Daytona – Free Practice 3: Acura returns to the forefront

After two sessions where they were beaten by the Cadillacs and even by an LM P2, the Acuras set the record straight during the third Free Practice session for the 24 Hours of Daytona. An entirely night session during which Filipe Albuquerque showed himself to be the fastest. The Portuguese set the best time in 1:48.730 for Wayne Taylor Racing ahead of the champion IndyCar Alex Palou in the first Cadillac, the No. 01 of Chip Ganassi Racing, 0.733 seconds behind. The other Acura competing in DPi, the No. 60 of Meyer Shank Racing with Tom Blomqvist at the wheel, finished 0.853 seconds behind.

Ferdinand Habsburg set the best time in LM P2 in 1:50.355 for Tower Motorsport. Ugo de Wilde did the same in LM P3 with the No. 08 Duqueine D26 from Muelher Motorsports America. Daniel Juncadella dominated the GT by setting a lap in 1:58.431 with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 No. 97 from WeatherTech Racing. Raffaele Marciello was the fastest in GTD, also in a Mercedes, that of Sun Energy 1.
