24 Hours of Daytona – FP4: The final tests for Action Express Racing

The final free practice session for the 24 Hours of Daytona (Florida), first event of theIMSA 2018 was dominated by the No. 31 Cadillac DPi-VR – Whelen Engineering / Action Express Racing. At the wheel of the American prototype, Mike conway set the best time in 1'36″865, the benchmark for the four driving sessions, not counting the qualifying sessions held last night.

Conway precedes Lance stroll, lined up in the No. 07 Oreca 37 – Jackie Chan DC Racing alongside Robin Frijns, Dani Juncadella and Felix Rosenqvist, the Canadian failing at 0″181. Tristan Vautier confirms his good performances since the Roar Before the Rolex 24 at the wheel of the No. 90 Cadillac DPi-VR – Spirit of Daytona, placing third at 0″253.

René Rast (Mazda RT24-P n°77 – Mazda Team Joest) and Filipe Albuquerque (Cadillac DPi-VR n°5 – Mustang Sampling / Action Express Racing) complete the top 5. Fernando Alonso signs the 16th time at 1″930 with the No. 217 Ligier JS P23 – United Autosports.

Ford continues its domination in GTLM with the best time in 1'44"062 for Joey Hand, associated in the No. 66 Ford GT with Dirk Müller and Sébastien Bourdais. Both Porsche 911 RSR n°912 de Vanthoor – Bruni – Bamber et n°911 de Pilet – Makowiecki – Tandy suivent au classement à moins d’un dixième.

Porsche, on the other hand, set the best time in GTD with the No. 911 Manthey Racing 3 GT59 R of Matteo Cairoli. The Italian achieved a benchmark time in the category in 1'46″905 and is ahead of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°33 – Riley Motorsports of Jeroen Bleekemolen and the Porsche 911 GT3 R n°58 – Wright Motorsports of Mathieu Jaminet.
