Partie en pole position, la Toyota GR010 Hybrid numéro 8 (Buemi, Nakajima, Hartley) still leads the race ahead of number 7 (Conway, Kobayashi, López). The two Japanese cars have just pitted for their second stop shortly before the two-hour mark. L'Alpine A480 – Gibson is around twenty seconds behind with an offbeat strategy.

In LM P2, the JOTAs lost the benefit of their excellent qualifications from the start. Number 28 (Gelael, Vandoorne, Blomqvist) is relegated to fourth place. Team WRT (Frijns, Habsburg, Milesi) occupies first place ahead of Oreca 07 – Gibson number 34 from Inter Europol Competition (Smiechowski, van der Zande, Brundle). The first Pro-Am, Racing Team Nederland (van Eerd, van der Garde, van Uitert), author of an excellent start, is fifth.

La lutte en GTE Pro tourne en faveur de Porsche puisque la 92 (Jani, Estre) mène depuis le drapeau vert devant la numéro 91 (Bruni, Lietz), Les Ferrari AF Corse are relegated to more than twenty seconds four hours from the goal.

AF Corse, however, leads the race in GTE Am with his future LM P2 crew (Perrodo, Nielsen, Rovera), but theAston Martin Racing number 98 (Dalla Lana, Farfus, Gomes) is in ambush less than a second away. The second Aston Martin Vantage AMR, that of D' Station Racing (Hoshino, Fujii, Watson) completes the provisional podium.

The race is currently under Full Course Yellow for debris on the start-finish straight.
