6H. of Watkins Glen – H2: Albuquerque benefits from an offbeat strategy

Change of leader at the 6H. from Watkins Glen. While the leader Tom Blomqvist (Meyer Shank Racing) took advantage of a new race neutralization to stop a second time, Filipe Albuquerque chose to stay on the track, Wayne Taylor Racing opting for a shifted strategy in order to take some margin with an emptier tank. However, a penalty for Pipo Derani, a 60-second stop-and-go for entering the pit lane while it was closed, put that tactic in jeopardy. The Brazilian actually came out just in front of the leader Albuquerque, preventing the Portuguese from implementing his offbeat strategy.

Disaster for PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports in LM P2. While the team's two cars occupied the first two positions in their category, they were both penalized, with a drive-through for the No. 52, guilty of overtaking under a yellow flag, and a 60-second stop-and-go for the No. 11, which came out of the pits while the light was red. Racing Team Nederland took the opportunity to take control with Dylan Murry. In the LM P3 category, Josh Sarchet is in first position with the No. 320 MLT Motorsports Ligier JS P58. Note Lars Kern's big accident in the No. 08 Duqueine D13 of Lars Kern at turn 1, triggering a Safety Car. The pilot is fine.

Connor de Phillippi, who started from pole, took back the lead of the GTD Pro with the No. 4 BMW M3 GT25 of Team RLL. He is ahead of Ben Barnicoat in the No. 3 Lexus RC F GT14 and Jordan Taylor in the No. 8 Chevrolet Corvette C3.R. In the GTD category, it was Richard Heistand who took the lead at the end of this second hour of racing with the no.3 Lexus RC F GT12 ahead of Michael Dinan in the no.4 BMW M3 GT96 and Robert Megennis in the Lamborghini Huracan GT3. No. 39.

The race is currently under Safety Car four hours before the finish of the 6H. from Watkins Glen.
