United Autosports was forced to replace the ailing Bruno Senna with Alex Brundle to drive the Ligier JS P217 LM P2 scheduled for testing at Sebring in Florida. The Briton thus joins Phil Hanson and Paul di Resta.

Alex Brundle is no stranger to Zak Brown's structure having played in LM P3 in ELMS, with the title up for grabs in 2016. Brundle competed in the 24 Hours of Daytona at the wheel of the Oreca 07 entered under the Jackie Chan DC Racing banner alongside António Félix da Costa, Ferdinand Habsburg and Ho-Pin Tung.

The son of Martin Brundle is also part of the R-Motorsport program in Blancpain GT Series with a Aston Martin Vantage V12 GT3.
