The coronavirus struck down former American pilot Jim Pace at the age of 58. The year 1996 will remain as its hour of glory, with a victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona then at the 12 Hours of Sebring with a Riley & Scott Mk. II from the Doyle Racing team. His teammates were Wayne Taylor and Scott Sharp at Daytona, the latter having given way to Belgian Éric van de Poele at Sebring.

A few months before contracting Covid-19, Jim Pace had already had a big scare when he escaped a plane crash with a Can-Am Shadow DN4 at Road America. The entire AUTO editorial teamhebdo extends its sincere condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Jim Pace.

Passionate about the history of motorsport across all disciplines, I learned to read thanks to AUTOhebdo. At least that's what my parents tell everyone when they see my name inside!
