The start of the fourth round of the World ChampionshipEndurance sur le tracé allemand du Nürburgring a été donné, avec les deux Audi R18 e-tron quattro en première ligne de la grille. Marcel Fässler et Oliver Jarvis sont au volant pour Audi alors que les deux Porsche 919 Hybrid sont confiées à Timo Bernhard et Neel Jani. Les deux Toyota TS050 Hybrid sont pilotées par Kamui Kobayashi et Mike conway.
