Plastic ducks on the track at Le Mans!

Le Mans (Sarthe) is the ideal meeting place for fashionistas. No, we are not talking about fashion stores here, but rather the “Art Car” liveries chosen by certain teams of the 24 Hours of Le Mans to be in the wind.

On en veut pour preuve la formation asiatique Absolute Racing joue pleinement le jeu avec une déco remplie de petits… canards en plastique sur la Porsche 911 RSR en GTE Am.

This curious idea, to say the least, we owe to Andrew Haryanto, an Indonesian gentleman driver who took his first steps in Le Mans and wanted to represent the diversity of peoples and the fight against discrimination in a humorous way.

The No. 18 Porsche crew of Alessio Picariello, Marco Seefried and Andrew Haryanto also renamed themselves the “Underducks”. Don't ask us for the exact French translation, but it's a play on words with the words "ducks" and "underdog" which in Shakespeare's language means "outsiders". Ah, it’s also an English word! So let’s rather say “left behind” or “those we don’t expect”.

During qualifying, the black and gold Porsche finished in 13th place in GTE Am (3'50''016), 1''396 behind the best time set by Julien Andlauer in the n°88 Porsche of Dempsey- Proton Racing.

Passionate about the history of motorsport across all disciplines, I learned to read thanks to AUTOhebdo. At least that's what my parents tell everyone when they see my name inside!
