Detroit – EL1: Earl Bamber sets the best time for Cadillac

The sixth round of the seasonIMSA began with a Free Practice session held on the Belle Isle track in Detroit. For this last weekend in its island version before heading to the city center next year, it was Eael Bamber who set the best time in the first Free Practice session with the No. 02 Cadillac in 1 :20.178. The New Zealander beat Ricky Taylor in the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Acura DPi by 0.146 seconds and Oliver Jarvis in the No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura DPi by 0.696 seconds. Olivier Pla took fourth place on his return to the championship with the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac DPi, 0.891 from the best time. In the only other category entered, that of GTD, it was Mike Skeen who was the fastest with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°32 from Team Korthoff Motorsports in 1:30.759.
