Dieter Gass back in Endurance. L’ingénieur allemand sera le nouveau directeur principal de l’écurie Hertz-Jota en Hypercar, qui exploitera une Porsche 963 cette saison. L’ancien patron d’Audi Motorsport, qui a notamment supervisé les programmes en LM P1 et en DTM at the time, will be responsible for leading the British team in its new adventure in the premier category of Endurance.

A glorious past with Audi

Dieter Gass avait fait ses débuts en tant qu’ingénieur de course chez Audi entre 1994 et 2001, et était ensuite passé chez Toyota et Lotus en F1 between 2001 and 2012. Returning that same year to the fold of the firm with the rings, Gass had worked at the head of competitive entries, under the leadership of Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. Among his main achievements, successes in DTM and numerous victories in GT (24 Hours of Spa, Nürburgring, Intercontinental GT Challenge, FIA GT World Cup, etc.).

In 2017, Gass took over from Dr. Ullrich and chaired Audi Motorsport, with official engagements and customer racing now united under the Audi Sport GmbH banner. A position he left at the end of 2020, without resuming activity afterwards.

“Jota is a new entrant in the Hypercar category of WEC (…). We have a strong mix of skills and young potential in our drivers, as well as an experienced technical and engineering team, declared the new Team Principal of the team. I look forward to working alongside the team, where we hope to challenge for race wins and championship honors. »
