Filipe Albuquerque continues at United Autosports in 2022

Winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans 2020 in the LM P2 category with United Autosports, Filipe Albuquerque will still be behind the wheel of a car from the Anglo-American team for the 2022 season in WEC the latter indicated in a press release. “ I'm super happy to be able to continue with United Autosports for 2022 and compete again in the WEC and the Mans, declared the Portuguese. United is the team I've been with the longest in my career, which says a lot. It makes sense for us to continue together, we know each other so well and every year it feels more and more like a family. Knowing everyone is great and their way of working is amazing, so I'm looking forward to continuing in 2022 to get more wins, which is exactly what we've done so far. I would like to thank Richard (Dean) and Zak (Brown) for the trust they have shown in me. The results on my side obviously help but it's great to work with the whole team again. Of course, I want to continue being part of the team achieving such good results. »

Arriving in the structure in 2017, Albuquerque will play his sixth season with the team. In five years, the 36-year-old driver has won 14 victories in 35 races as well as two championships. The native of Coimbra is coming out of a frustrating 89th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans: hampered in qualifying and unlucky in the race, the Hanson-Scherer-Albuquerque trio finished the double round of the clock in 18th position in their category.
