If he was not crowned LM P2 champion in WEC, Filipe Albuquerque did not leave Bahrain empty-handed. The Portuguese was awarded the very first Wingfoot Award by Goodyear, manufacturer in the category. A prize which rewards the person who achieves the fastest average of consecutive relays during each of the seven rounds of the calendar and “celebrates the art of maximizing performance over multiple relays” according to the American firm.

The United Autosports driver, 8th in the LM P2 standings this season, won this prize ahead of Robert Kubica. Filipe Albuquerque was notably the LM P2 driver fastest during the 6 Hours of Fuji last September. Albert Costa won the Wingfoot Award for the 8 Hours of Bahrain, with an average time of 1'56″96.

Thanks to the Portuguese's victory in this honorary championship, United Autosports received three additional sets of Goodyear tires for the end-of-season Rookie Test, which took place on the Sunday after the final round at the Sakhir circuit. The Wingfoot Award will continue in the WEC next season with the arrival of LMGT3. A category where Goodyear will be the sole supplier.
