IMSA – Action Express and BMW shine in EL1

The first free practice session for the 12 Hours of Sebring, second round of theIMSA SportsCar Championship, has just ended. A session which was interrupted a few minutes after the #0 DeltaWing was stopped at turn 17 following a spin by Katherine Legge.

The BoP having been reviewed after the latest tests carried out at the former Florida military airport, the hierarchy found itself somewhat modified. At the top, we find the No. 31 Action Express Racing Corvette DP entrusted to Dane Cameron-Eric Curran-Scott Pruett, credited with a 1’52”447. She is 0” ahead of the sister car of Joao Barbosa-Christian Fittipaldi-Filipe Albuquerque.

The top five is completed by the Ligier JS P2-HPD of Ed Brown-Johannes van Overbeek-Scott Sharp-Pipo Derani, the Ligier JS P2-HPD of Michael Shank Racing of Olivier Plan-Ozz Negri Jr-John Pew and the Oreca 05 DragonSpend Nicolas lapierre-Nicolas Minassian-Henrik Hedman.

En GTLM, c’est BMW qui a brillé grâce à la n°25 de Bill Auberlen-Dirk Werner-Bruno Spengler. La bavaroise (2’02 »519) a précédé les deux Porsche 911 RSR, la n°912 de Bamber-Makowiecki-Christensen devançant la n°911 de Pilet-Tandy-Estre. Les deux Ford GT pointent aux sixième et septième rangs de la catégorie, juste derrière la seconde BMW et la Ferrari 488 GTE Risi Competizione de Fisichella-Vilander-Rigon.

The No. 09 Core Autosport Oreca 54 FLM (Bennett-Wilkins-Braun) and the No. 33 SRT Viper GTS-R (Keating-Bleekemolen-Miller) respectively dominated the session in PC and GTD.
