The first free practice session of 24 Hours of Le Mans a été interrompue par un drapeau rouge, après la sortie de piste de Inès Taittinger (Pegasus Racing). Les officiels ont indiqué que la session ne repartirait pas. Dans le même temps, Stéphane Sarrazin est parti à la faute avec la Toyota TS050 Hybrid n°6, endommageant sa LM P1 au niveau de l’avant.
Neel Jani (Porsche) signe donc le meilleur temps en 3’22″011 devant la voiture-soeur, pointée à 0″539. L’Audi R18 n°8 termine troisième à 0″974. La Oreca 05 n°47 KCMG de Bradley – Hawson – Matsuda a dominé en LM P2, alors que Ferrari signs the best times in GTE Pro with the #488 51 AF Corse of Gianmaria Bruni and the #458 Clearwater Racing Ferrari 61 Italia of Rob Bell.
