WRT suffered an electrical problem at the 24 Hours of Le Mans

It was the heartbreak of the 89th edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans. Of those who remind us how cruel motorsport, and particularly Le Mans, can be. At 15:55 p.m. Sunday, the Oreca number 41 of Team WRT stopped on the last lap of the race while the trio Louis Délétraz, Robert Kubica and Yifei Ye prepared to win the LM P2 category, ultimately leaving victory to the sister car 31 of the crew formed by Robin Frijns, Ferdinand Habsburg and Charles Milesi. The Belgian team identified the problem the day after the race. “The next shocking surprise for the WRT team came on Monday morning when the mechanics collected the car from parc ferme, only to discover that the engine fired up immediately at the first press of the switch, sounding crisp and sound. Further investigations revealed that an electrical shortcut caused a temporary ECU malfunction. The engine and all its accessories were found in perfect condition, as well as the complete evacuation system with over 20 liters remaining in the tank”, indicated the team in a press release.
