Si Ferrari outrageously dominated the general classification of the 1812 km of Qatar, opening round of the 2025 season of the WEC, by signing a hat-trick, the LMGT3 category offered a great final duel between the Corvette of Dani Juncadella and the McLaren by Grégoire Saucy. A battle that turned to the advantage of the Spaniard, partnered with Jonny Edgar and Ben Keating, for a victory for the American manufacturer. Further back, the #4 BMW M3 GT31 of Team WRT completed the podium with Timur Boguslavsky, Yasser Shahin and Augusto Farfus.
« Congratulations to Augusto, Timur and Yasser for their podium in the LMGT3 category, comments Andreas Roos, director of BMW M Motorsport, in remarks relayed by the World Endurance Championship website. Our new BMW M4 GT3 EVO has once again proven its potential for success. Thank you to everyone who worked hard this winter to put us in a strong position to start the season. »
« Given our starting point (14th) and our finish, no one could have predicted such a thing, added Farfus. CThis demonstrates the quality of our team and the strength of our drivers, and we executed our mission perfectly. Finishing on the podium was more than a victory and gives us good hope of continuing this momentum. » This is a good thing, the next WEC meeting is a circuit where the German cars achieved a brilliant one-two in the rain in 2024: the 6 Hours of Imola (April 20).
