Forty cars expected at Le Mans for the Ligier European Series

For its grand premiere on the Le Mans circuit, the Ligier European Series will have forty cars divided into JS2 R and JS P4.

Forty cars expected at Le Mans for the Ligier European Series

The 2022 season of the Ligier European Series will see the championship stop for the first time on the legendary circuit of 24 Hours of Le Mans. For this third weekend of the year after those of Castellet and Monza, in support of the European Le Mans Series, no less than forty cars are expected in Sarthe, with some recognized teams from around the world of the'Endurance like DKR Engineering or Team Virage. The 40 cars will be divided into the two usual categories of the competition, the JS2 R and the JS P4.

As for sports prototypes, 12 Ligier JS P4s will be expected. Team Virage, dominator of the first two Heats of the season with the young Gillian Henrion, will enter a second car driven by Alessandro Bracalente. A new team is arriving in the series: the Luxembourg team DKR Engineering by HRC with the No. 9 entered for Belgian drivers Tom Van Rompuy and Kris Cools. On the No. 50 from the Les Deux Arbres team, a 100% American duo makes its debut with Kevin Madsen and Lance Fenton.

28 voitures s’expliqueront pour la victoire en catégorie GT, la JS2 R. Neuf équipes rejoignent la série pour cette manche mancelle : M3, ANS Motorsport, SK Racing, Pole Position 81, Zosh Competition, Extreme Limite, LADC Motorsport, Masse Motorsport by LADC, Orhès Racing. Parmi ces équipes, sept participent à la Ligier JS Cup France, la série réservée à la Ligier JS2 R. Le vice-champion 2021 de la catégorie et Junior Porsche Carrera Cup France 2022, Mathieu Martins, fera son retour avec la n°24 de Orhès Racing. Enfin, TM Evolution et CTF Performance aligneront une troisième voiture.
