Roar session 2: Derani and Whelen Engineering at the forefront

The No. 31 Cadillac Dpi of Action Express, on behalf of Whelen Engineering, set the best time in the second session of the Roar Before the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona on Friday evening. Pipo Derani set a time of 1'36"225 and is ahead of the Meyer Shank Racing Acura in the hands of Juan Pablo Montoya by a tenth.

The Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillac led by Kevin Magnussen completes the podium three tenths ahead of the other #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Acura driven by Alexander Red. In fifth position we find the JDC Miller Cadillac in the hands of the French drivers. Loïc duval, Tristan Vautier and Sébastien Bourdais.

The first Mazda, the No. 55 driven by Harry Tincknell, is only sixth by eight tenths.

In LM P2, the Oreca of Racing Team Nederland, which had not driven in the first session, this time led the way thanks to Giedo Van der Garde, teammate of Frenchman Charles Milesi, Frits Van Eerd and Job Van Uitert.

In GTLM, the No. 4 Corvette was the fastest in 1'44 thanks to Tommy Milner, Nick Tandy and Alexander Sims.

In LMP3, Laurents Hoerr and Moritz Kranz dominated both sessions in the Muehlner Motorsport Duqueine.

Finally in GTD, the Ferrari 488 GT3 of the Team Corsa set the fastest time in the hands of Marcos Gomes, Bret Curtis and Ryan Briscoe.
