The first free practice session for the 12 Hours of Sebring, second round of theIMSA SportsCar Championship, was dominated by the No. 05 Acura ARX-7 of Helio Castroneves-Ricky Taylor-Graham Rahal. Author of a lap in 1'48"237, the first named was 0"150 ahead of Frenchman Tristan Vautier, who shares the wheel of the No. 90 Cadillac DPi-VR with Eddie Cheever III and Matt McMurry. In third place, we find another Cadillac, namely the No. 10 from Wayne Taylor Racing. The top five is completed by the No. 2 Onroak Nissan DPi of Pla-Sharp-Dalziel and the Mazda RT24-P of Bomarito-Pigot-Tincknell.
In GTLM, the best performance this morning is to the credit of the No. 66 Ford GT of Bourdais-Hand-Müller in 1'57"567. There Ferrari 488 GTE n°62 de Calado-Pier Guidi-Vilander est deuxième, coincée entre les deux autos frappées de l’ovale bleu, alors que les deux Porsche 911 RSR suivent aux quatrième et cinquième rangs. Les BMW M8 GTLM et les Corvette C7.R ferment la marche, ces dernières étant les seules de la classe à concéder plus d’une seconde à la marque de référence.
Finally, in GTD, the No. 3 Acura NSX GT93 driven by Marks-Aschenbech-Farnbacher took the lead.
