The Chip Ganassi Racing team got off to a good start in the first session of the Roar Before the 24, the official test session for the 24 Hours of Daytona (January 24-25). The No. 02 Riley-Ford of Scott Dixon (in 1'39″406), associated with Tony Kanaan – Kyle Larson – Jamie McMurray and No. 01 of Joey Hand (1'39″505), accompanied by Charlie Kimball Scott Pruett and Sage Karam dominated the first runs in Florida ahead of the No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP of the Barbosa – Fittipaldi – trio. Bourdais, winners last year of the Florida double clock tour.

The Michael Shank Racing Honda-powered Ligier JS P2 of Pew – Negri – Allmendinger – McMurry finished 4th. In the PC category, it was the Oreca FLM09 of Bruno Junqueira's RSR Racing which was the fastest. In GTLM, theAston Martin Vantage V8 de Pedro Lamy a signé le meilleur chrono devant les deux Porsche 911 RSR officielles des trios Tandy – Pilet – Lieb et Makowiecki – Bergmeister – Bamber. En GTD, Philipp Eng s’est porté aux avant-postes sur la Porsche 911 GT America du Dempsey / Wright Motorsports.
