The No. 2 Oak Racing Morgan-Nissan LM P42 driven by Gustavo Yacaman (associated with Olivier Pla) set the best time in the first free practice session on the Motorsport Park track in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. The two HPD ARX-03b from Extreme Speed Motorsports follow in 2nd and 3rd position with Ryan Dalziel and Johannes Van Overbeek, while the first DP, the No. 5 Corvette from Action Express Racing, ranks 4th.
In GTLM, it was the BMW Z4 of Team RLL of John Edwards and Dirk Müller which dominated the debates while in GTD, it was the Audi R8 LMS of Spencer Pumpelly (Flying Lizard) which showed itself the most fast.
