The famous Balance of Performance in TUDOR USCC will further evolve as we get closer and closer to the first event of the season, the 24 hours of Daytona (January 25-26). After the last private tests held on the Florida track, where the teams of the General Motors group were able to test a new package, theIMSA was able to verify that the recent adjustments were going in the right direction.

“We reduced some of the aerodynamic load by removing the diffuser and it seems like the right solution. The DP (Daytona Proto) in Spec-2014 version actually produced additional downforce of around 450 kg” explains Scot Elkins, IMSA technical manager. “ Adjustments have also been made to the angle of the rear wing in order to control the top speed of the DPs. With the modifications, we still have much more downforce than the 2013 package (around 220 kg more) but less than the full-spec 2014 (220 kg less) but it seems to work correctly. We will enter the wind tunnel at the end of the month to carry out Balance of Performance tests between the Ford and the Corvette in order to finalize everything. » However, the broadcaster will be back after Daytona for the DP.

For P2, like the ORECA Nissan 03 entered by Muscle Milk Pickett Racing, developments have so far been limited to a weight reduction of 60 kg. But the increase in the number of cars entered in the category will allow for more feedback, particularly during the ROAR Before the 24h, a full-scale test session held between January 3 and 5. “We will probably make a final decision after the tests at the beginning of January” adds Elkins. In the GTLM and GTD categories, no changes should be applied.
