Jordan Taylor was the fastest in the first practice session of theIMSA at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The driver of the Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi completed a lap in 1'09''443, ahead of Ryan Dalziel's No. 7 ESM Nissan DPi by 2 thousandths. The No. 55 Mazda DPi driven by Jonathan Bomarito completed the top three by almost 3 tenths.

Patricio O Ward was the fastest of the PCs in the No. 38 of Performance tech Motorsports, credited with a time of 1’12”512. Andy Lally set the GTD benchmark in the No. 3 Michael Shank Racing Acura NSX GT93, which finished with a time of 1:17.
The session was marked by the accident of Gunnar Jeannette on the Mercedes-AMG GT3 No. 50 from WeatherTech Racing which lost a wheel after contact and ended up in the guardrail.
